ISO9001: 2000 Common Sense & Best Practice, including Design & Development

By Dr G. Dennis Green

Dr Green is author of two published books – ‘The Complete ISO9000 Manual’ (Kogan Page) and ‘ISO9000 Quality System Auditing’ (Gower) and has recently completed another, ‘Satisfying the Needs & Expectations of Customers through ISO9001:2000’.  He is an International Consultant and Principal Auditor whose work has taken him to Lithuania, Slovenia, Korea and more recently to Dubai.

Dr Green began his career in the Nuclear Power industry, but went on to establish an international reputation for his clinical work with over 1000 cardiac pacemaker patients (at operations, at pacemaker clinics and post-mortems). He has established and seen the success of ISO 9000 in a private hospital and has conducted external audits for a certification body on a number of NHS hospital departments. However, he believes strongly that the true benefits of the revised Quality Management Systems Standard will only accrue in NHS hospitals when it is applied to every aspect of the work in NHS hospitals, as opposed to the odd department. Chief executives will then be able to take full control of such hospitals.

He is a prolific author in various engineering and quality periodicals, including over 30 articles / letters in Quality World within the last 5 years.

Dr Green has recently become, by invitation, an advisory member of the World Council for Corporate Governance.
